Of all the artwork I do, I find Portrait painting to be the most enjoyable and rewarding of all. 

When I am not  working on a live sitting,  I work mostly from  photographs. I like to paint detailed portraits. I use a magnifying glass to zoom in the finest details from the photo in areas as small as a fraction of an inch.   I don't feel time going by, even though  each piece  takes an enormous amount of  hours to complete..  When I am painting the eyes of the subject,  I feel a deep connection  with the person, as if he or she were physically there before me.

 

I don't compromise quality,  therefore I find  painting and drawing to be a challenging vehicle for me to learn self discipline and patience.
